At the South African campus the School of IT (SIT) presently offers only a Research Masters degree, and no Coursework Masters degrees.
A student submits a thesis (with a maximum of 50'000 words) which demonstrates independence of thought and the ability to carry out research in the field addressed. The student's research takes place under supervision of a member of the academic staff of the school, and sometimes jointly with staff from a campus in Melbourne.
A Masters students is expected to be involved in the intellectual life of the School of IT and university and regularly offer presentations of work done.
The main research focus of SIT is Development Informatics, although our research is not restricted to this field.
A limited number of Masters students will be admitted every year as our focus is on quality supervision of an international rather than mass-produced quantity.
* The School of IT in South Africa complies with both Australian (AUQA) and South African (SAQA/HEQC) accreditation bodies. The degree name is presently pending final authorisation by the South African authorities. It is possible for Masters students to register in Australia.
