A PhD candidate submits a thesis which makes a significant contribution to knowledge and understanding in the field of study.
The research framework of the School of IT (SIT) is Development Informatics and Web and Mobile Technologies, although our research is not restricted to this field. See our Research page for more details.
The student's research takes place under supervision of a member of the academic staff of the school, and sometimes jointly with staff from a campus in Melbourne.
A limited number of PhD students will be admitted every year as our focus is on quality supervision of an international rather than mass-produced quantity.
* The School of IT in South Africa complies with both Australian (AUQA) and South African (SAQA/HEQC) accreditation bodies. The degree name is presently pending final authorisation by the South African authorities. It is possible for PhD students to register in Australia.
