Neil Manson is Lecturer in the School of Information technology.

Neil obtained a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Wits University in 1990, and then went to work for Mondi Paper Mills in Springs, first as a Trainee Engineer, and then as Assistant Projects Engineer. During his time at Mondi he completed a pert-time Diploma in Datametrics through UNISA. After three years at Mondi, Neil went to work for Condition Monitoring Services, as a Diagnostic Engineer. After a year at CMS, a post became available in the Civil Engineering Department at Wits University, which Neil enthusiastically accepted. Neil lectured at Wits for the next six years, and obtained an MSc in Civil Engineering in June 1998. During his time in the Civil Engineering Department, Neil developed a simulation and optimisation model of a portion of Rand Water's distribution system, as well as being responsible for the department's Novell network.

In February 2001, Neil accepted a position as Lecturer in the School of Information Technology at Monash South Africa, where he continues to lecture and pursue his interest in simulation and optimisation.
